About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Workday Extend Specialist to design, develop and deliver custom applications and automated workflows within the Workday ecosystem.

This role will focus on extending Workday's capabilities beyond standard HCM and Financials functionality, developing tailored solutions that address complex business requirements and improve operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate will combine strong Workday technical expertise, application development skills and an understanding of enterprise business processes, working closely with functional teams and stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy custom applications using Workday Extend to address business requirements.

• Build and maintain automated workflows and integrations using Workday Orchestrate and Workday Studio.

• Collaborate with HR, Finance and technical teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.

• Translate functional business requirements into technical designs and application solutions.

• Develop and maintain integrations using Workday Core Connectors, Document Transformations and related technologies.

• Ensure custom applications integrate effectively with existing Workday modules and enterprise systems.

• Troubleshoot, test and optimise applications to ensure performance, security and reliability.

• Support the full development lifecycle, including solution design, development, testing, deployment and ongoing maintenance.

• Explore AI-assisted development tools to improve efficiency and accelerate application delivery.

• Provide technical guidance and best practices around Workday Extend development.

Key Requirements

• 3–7+ years of experience working within the Workday ecosystem.

• Strong hands-on experience developing applications using Workday Extend.

• Workday Extend Certification or relevant Workday Pro accreditation.

• Experience with Workday Studio, Orchestrate, Core Connectors and Document Transformations.

• Strong knowledge of JSON, XML, XSLT and XPath.

• Familiarity with programming languages such as JavaScript or Python.

• Good understanding of Workday HCM, Payroll, Benefits or Financials processes.

• Experience designing and implementing custom applications, integrations and automated workflows.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, functional consultants and business stakeholders.

Desirable Experience

• Experience using Workday Developer Agent or AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor or Claude.

• Exposure to Generative AI tools for application development and rapid prototyping.

• Experience working on complex Workday transformation or optimisation projects.

• Understanding of API integrations, data security and enterprise application architecture.

• Experience identifying opportunities to automate manual HR or Finance processes.

• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and DevSecOps practices.
