Workday PSA Expert / SME

Role Overview

We are looking for a highly experienced Workday PSA Expert / SME to support and strengthen a Workday environment ahead of a significant deployment planned for April 2027.

The long-term preference is to build strong internal PSA capability; however, due to the specialist nature of the requirement and the urgency surrounding the upcoming programme, there is also flexibility to engage an experienced external consultant or contractor.

The successful individual will take ownership of PSA-related configuration, troubleshooting and optimisation, working closely with Finance, HR, Operations, Project Management and internal Workday stakeholders.

This is a genuinely specialist requirement. The key priority is finding someone with strong, hands-on Workday PSA expertise who understands the challenges of Professional Services Automation within a project-based organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the SME for Workday PSA, providing functional and configuration expertise across the platform.

  • Configure, optimise and support PSA functionality across:

    • Project structures and project types

    • Project costing

    • Billing rules

    • Revenue recognition

    • Resource management

    • Time tracking

  • Investigate and resolve complex PSA configuration issues and defects.

  • Support preparations for the major April 2027 deployment, helping to strengthen internal PSA capability.

  • Work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective Workday solutions.

  • Configure, test and deploy system enhancements.

  • Support integrations and reporting where they interact with PSA.

  • Ensure effective alignment between PSA, Workday Financial Management and HCM.

  • Support process improvement and automation initiatives.

  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Provide knowledge transfer, guidance and best-practice support to internal teams.

Required Experience

  • Strong, demonstrable experience working specifically with Workday Professional Services Automation (PSA).

  • Hands-on experience as a Workday PSA Configurator, Functional Consultant or SME.

  • Strong understanding of PSA processes within project-based or professional-services environments.

  • Experience across areas such as project accounting, time & materials, project costing, billing and revenue recognition.

  • Ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex PSA-related issues.

  • Understanding of the interaction between Workday PSA, Financial Management and HCM.

  • Experience supporting Workday deployments, enhancements or optimisation programmes.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

  • Fluent professional English.

Engagement

This opportunity may suit either an experienced Workday PSA contractor/consultant or a specialist looking to take ownership of PSA capability within an organisation.

The immediate focus will be supporting and strengthening the Workday PSA environment ahead of the April 2027 deployment, with the opportunity to play a key role in its ongoing development and optimisation.
