About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Architect to design, develop and oversee scalable, secure and resilient cloud solutions across our technology environment.

The role will be responsible for translating business and technical requirements into robust cloud architectures, ensuring solutions are secure, cost-effective, scalable and aligned with long-term technology strategy.

Working closely with Engineering, Security, Product and senior stakeholders, you will provide technical leadership across cloud infrastructure, applications, data and integration.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Architecture & Strategy

• Design and maintain scalable, secure and resilient cloud architectures.

• Develop cloud strategies aligned with business and technology objectives.

• Define architecture standards, principles and best practices.

• Assess existing environments and identify opportunities for modernisation and optimisation.

• Evaluate cloud services and technologies to determine the most appropriate solutions.

Cloud Infrastructure & Engineering

• Design cloud infrastructure across compute, storage, networking, databases and platform services.

• Develop architectures for highly available and business-critical applications.

• Support cloud migration, modernisation and transformation programmes.

• Establish appropriate environments across development, testing and production.

• Ensure infrastructure is scalable and designed for future growth.

Security & Compliance

• Embed security into cloud architecture and solution design.

• Implement appropriate identity, access management, encryption and network security controls.

• Work closely with Security and Compliance teams to ensure cloud environments meet organisational and regulatory requirements.

• Support security assessments, risk reviews and remediation activities.

• Apply principles including Zero Trust, least privilege and defence in depth.

Integration & Data

• Design secure and scalable integration architectures across cloud platforms and business applications.

• Define approaches for APIs, messaging, event-driven architectures and data integration.

• Support the design of cloud-based data platforms and services.

• Ensure data flows are secure, reliable and appropriately governed.

Technical Leadership

• Provide architectural guidance to engineering and development teams.

• Review technical designs and ensure alignment with agreed architecture standards.

• Produce architecture documentation, diagrams and technical specifications.

• Identify technical risks, dependencies and opportunities for improvement.

• Mentor technical teams and promote cloud architecture best practices.

• Act as a key technical advisor to senior stakeholders.

Cost & Performance Optimisation

• Design solutions with scalability, performance and cost efficiency in mind.

• Monitor cloud usage and identify opportunities for optimisation.

• Support FinOps and cloud cost management initiatives.

• Evaluate solutions based on performance, reliability, security and total cost of ownership.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years' experience in cloud architecture, cloud engineering or a related technical role.

• Strong experience designing and implementing enterprise cloud solutions.

• Experience with one or more major cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure.

• Strong understanding of:

• Experience with cloud migration and modernisation programmes.

• Strong understanding of cloud security and governance principles.

• Experience producing technical architecture documentation and solution designs.

• Previous experience working within a B2B sales environment or the FinTech sector is essential.

• Understanding of B2B technology environments and the ability to align technical solutions with commercial and client requirements.

• Excellent problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Experience

• Microsoft Azure certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert.

• Experience with Azure Architecture Centre and Microsoft Well-Architected Framework.

• Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep or ARM.

• Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD and DevSecOps.

• Knowledge of containers and Kubernetes.

• Experience with Azure Functions, Logic Apps, API Management and Event Grid.

• Experience designing cloud solutions for regulated or enterprise environments.

• Understanding of FinOps and cloud cost optimisation.
