About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer / Data Platform Consultant to join a growing data and analytics team, delivering modern data platform solutions for clients.

The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience across Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Power BI and SQL, with a solid understanding of data engineering, BI and data modelling. You will work across the full data lifecycle, from data ingestion and transformation through to modelling, semantic layers and business intelligence.

This is a highly client-facing consulting role, requiring someone who can understand business requirements, communicate technical concepts effectively and deliver scalable data solutions.

Knowledge of Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (Finance & Supply Chain) is also highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain data ingestion pipelines to bring data from multiple sources into modern data platforms.
  • Develop and manage Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse solutions.
  • Build scalable data pipelines and transformation processes using Microsoft Fabric and Azure.
  • Design effective data and BI models to support reporting and analytics requirements.
  • Develop and maintain Power BI semantic models.
  • Create and optimise Power BI reports and dashboards where required.
  • Write efficient SQL queries for data transformation, analysis and reporting.
  • Use DAX to develop calculations and measures within Power BI.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD processes for data and BI solutions.
  • Work with development and delivery teams to ensure robust deployment and release processes.
  • Translate client requirements into practical, scalable data platform solutions.
  • Work directly with clients and stakeholders to gather requirements and provide technical guidance.
  • Troubleshoot data, modelling and reporting issues.
  • Ensure solutions follow appropriate standards around data quality, security, performance and governance.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of data engineering and analytics practices.

Essential Requirements

  • 3–5+ years' experience in data engineering, data platforms, BI or a similar consulting environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric.
  • Experience building data ingestion pipelines and data transformation processes.
  • Practical experience working with Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse.
  • Strong understanding of data and BI modelling.
  • Experience developing Power BI semantic models.
  • Strong SQL skills.
  • Strong DAX skills.
  • Experience with Azure data services and technologies.
  • Understanding of CI/CD and modern development/deployment practices.
  • Fluent English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong client-facing and consulting skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with technical and business teams.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with Python and/or Python notebooks.
  • Knowledge of Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, particularly Finance and Supply Chain.
  • Experience integrating data from D365 F&O into Microsoft Fabric or wider data platforms.
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse or related Azure data technologies.
  • Microsoft Fabric or Power BI certifications.
  • Experience working within enterprise data environments.
  • Understanding of data governance, security and data quality principles.

Education

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will combine strong hands-on data engineering expertise with excellent consulting and client-facing skills.

You should be comfortable working across the Microsoft data ecosystem, particularly Fabric, Azure and Power BI, and able to take requirements from initial discussion through to the delivery of a complete data platform solution.

Experience with Dynamics 365 F&O Finance & Supply Chain would be a significant advantage, particularly for projects involving ERP data and business intelligence.
