About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Workday Lead Functional Consultant to join a growing Workday practice, leading the successful delivery of Workday HCM solutions for enterprise clients. This is an excellent opportunity for a functional expert who enjoys leading projects, mentoring consultants, and working closely with stakeholders to deliver business-critical Workday transformations.

You'll act as the functional lead across the full project lifecycle, from discovery and design through to deployment and post-go-live support, ensuring clients maximise the value of their Workday investment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the functional design and delivery of Workday HCM implementations and optimisation projects.
• Gather, analyse and document complex business requirements.
• Configure Workday solutions to meet client needs while following best practices.
• Lead client workshops and provide trusted functional advice.
• Own solution design across multiple Workday HCM modules.
• Manage functional workstreams and coordinate with technical consultants, project managers and client stakeholders.
• Review configuration, testing and deployment activities to ensure quality delivery.
• Support data validation, UAT and go-live activities.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and system enhancements.
• Mentor junior consultants and contribute to the development of the wider Workday practice.
• Build strong client relationships and act as a trusted advisor throughout engagements.

Key Requirements

• 5+ years of Workday configuration experience.
• Strong functional expertise across Core HCM, Benefits, Talent and Recruiting.
• Proven experience leading Workday implementation or optimisation projects.
• Excellent understanding of Workday business processes and configuration best practices.
• Experience facilitating client workshops and gathering business requirements.
• Ability to translate complex business needs into effective Workday solutions.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience leading functional teams and mentoring consultants.
• Knowledge of testing methodologies including UAT and defect management.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Workday certifications are highly desirable.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with additional Workday modules such as Compensation, Absence, Time Tracking or Payroll.
• Experience working within consulting or professional services environments.
• Agile project delivery experience.
• Knowledge of Workday release management and feature adoption.
