About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Workday Financials IT Systems Lead to take ownership of the functional support, development and ongoing optimisation of Workday Financials across a wider enterprise systems environment.

The successful candidate will have strong functional knowledge of Workday Financials, working closely with finance stakeholders, technical specialists and external implementation partners to manage requirements, support system enhancements and ensure the platform continues to meet business needs.

This is a hands-on functional leadership role, requiring a strong understanding of Workday system functionality, business processes, reporting and security. Configuration experience is desirable but not essential, with opportunities to develop expertise across additional Workday modules.

Working arrangement: Flexible hybrid, ideally two days per week onsite.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the functional management, support and optimisation of Workday Financials, including Core Financial Management, General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.

• Support finance business processes, approval workflows, reporting and dashboards, ensuring systems operate effectively and meet business requirements.

• Gather and analyse requirements from finance stakeholders, translating business needs into functional specifications and system improvements.

• Work closely with technical teams and external implementation partners to support solution design, configuration discussions and system enhancements.

• Oversee functional troubleshooting, investigate system issues and coordinate resolutions with relevant technical specialists.

• Support Workday security management, including security groups, permissions, user access and Business Process Security.

• Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT), system testing, implementation activities and go-live support.

• Manage post-production support, continuous improvement initiatives and ongoing system enhancements.

• Collaborate with integration specialists to support the delivery and maintenance of integrations across the wider systems landscape.

• Contribute to Workday transformation programmes and help ensure successful delivery of new functionality and system changes.

• Support the development of the wider Workday platform, including Adaptive Planning, Professional Services Automation (PSA) and Human Capital Management (HCM), where required.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong functional understanding and experience of Workday Financials, particularly Core Financial Management, General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.

• Understanding of Workday business processes, approval workflows, financial data and reporting capabilities.

• Experience with Workday reporting, dashboards, security groups, permissions and user access management.

• Understanding of Business Process Security and its application within Workday.

• Experience working with technical teams, integration specialists and external implementation partners.

• Strong stakeholder engagement and requirements-gathering skills, particularly when working with finance teams.

• Experience supporting Workday implementations, transformation programmes, system testing, UAT, go-live or post-production support.

• Ability to troubleshoot functional issues, assess system requirements and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

• Strong communication, problem-solving and organisational skills.

• Comfortable discussing system design and configuration with technical specialists.

Desirable Experience

• Hands-on Workday Financials configuration experience.

• Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning, particularly financial and workforce planning.

• Knowledge of Workday PSA (Professional Services Automation) and Workday HCM (Human Capital Management).

• Experience supporting complex Workday integrations, working alongside technical integration teams.

• Experience managing system enhancements and working across multiple Workday modules.
